where do all the tow hook covers go?
A couple of months ago, l lost my tow hook cover on my W124. Since then I've noticed that there are lots of W124s running around w/o tow hook covers! Where are they all going to? What's up with this phenomenon? Would have replaced mine already but can't get myself to cough up the $140 (approx-mine is painted) to do so! Haven't had much luck with the junkyard people either!

a lot of w126's are missing them too i think it's because tow people arent sure on how to get it off and break them. that happen to the 500 when the towed it away from the accident but the bumper was done for so either way.......

My girlfriend has a 400E and managed to lose the tow hook cover within 2 days of ownership. I bought a replacement and she lost it after about a week.....
A month later she borrows my 300D 2.5 turbo for a trip to the local convience store (2 miles away) and it returns without a tow hook cover..... I finally figured out what was happening - if you pull too far into a parking space and the front spoiler rides over the top of the parking space bump stop it can dislodge the tow hook cover. Since the cover has a strap that attaches it to the bumper I'm not sure how it can become unattached but it does. I noticed the cover was missing as she was returning from the store - we got into the car and when back to the parking space she used at the store and found the cover behind the bump stop. Tim |

I thought the tow hook cover bandits were stealing them!
