Sometimes I hate being Honest!
Ok, so I went on a camping trip on the weekend and had to pay for a car permit on the campsite. I went to the office and the bill came out to $27 for the 4 days and so I proceeded to pay with my debit card. I put my pin and whatever then a error occured on their debit machine but she said she thought it said approved on the machine but the problem was the printer or something.....so she calls her manager and she ends up giving me the permit but she was worried if it did say approved or not.
Ok...then me "Mr honest" told her my bank has a 1-800 number and tells me the last transaction done and she begged me to call to see......so i stepped out to the car and made the phone call and the last debit transaction was Mcdonalds which was on the way up .......my freind kept telling me to go in and tell her it was paid for even though it wasnt....after 5 mins of thinking I told him.....what if they search or god knows what and then I get caught or something...there goes the whole trip! I went and told her it wasnt approved and shes like "oh your so honest!!" and I didnt look happy for her I could have been that $27 richer and spent it on gas or something and I just wish I didnt open my mouth about the 1-800 number cause I could have gotten that free permit. Man I sound so cheap........ Have you guys been in a similar situation and what do you think of what I did?

honesty
I bought a $34 wrench once, and paid for it with a $50 bill, and recieved change for $100. I pionted out the error, the clerk was grateful. Another time, I was at the grocers, searching for an onion. I couldn't find one I liked in a binful, so I left to pay for my other purchases. The clerk shorted me $.04 on my change, then turned around and wouldn't look at me again. While wondering what to do, my eyes fell on a perfect onion lying on the counter. I picked it up, put it in my bag, and walked out. I felt good about that, too.

Most of the time I'll say something, I've went to the cash register and have things come up as something else before. I was at JcPennys or something and bought a ~$55 shirt and it rang up as $8 underwear, um, alrighty then!
I never count change, it is just something annoying to make a mess. Try going to a bank and handing them $5 or $10 of change, apparently they don't accept coined money as depsoits. Instead what are you supposed to do? PAY to get your change broke down into bills, how stupid. (speaking of which, stores BUY change from banks, ie it costs more for change) I've paid with $10-15 of change which I precounted at a gas station before though. Anyway, I only count bills as they are the only thing that really matter to me. Um you can use a debit card at Mcdonalds? I suppose I've never charged fast food before, guess I never thought of it but normal restaurants have it so why not fast food...
