Do you own a gun and for what reason?

I know this might seem like an odd topic, but here in Australia we even find it odd that police carry guns let alone a regular everyday people.

I own LOTS of guns and they give me peace of mind and allow me to sleep well at night. Home invasions are becoming more common around here, and you are allowed to use deadly force on an uninvited visitor inside your home. I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but don't carry on my person much, but always have one close by in my vehicles. I don't think people who drive Mercedes are perceived as gun toters. I would probably have to have suffered serious harm to use a weapon outside the home, but I have that option and I refuse to be a victim.

I do like guns.. but would not want to give a cent to the NRA. That might sound like an oxymoron.. but let so be it. Target shooting is fun, especially long range scope-action shooting So if I were to own a gun.. it would not be for self-defense... but for target shooting/fun.

What type of gun....hmmm.....

I made mention in another post about my love for the Beretta M92FS 9mm pistol. I have one in real steel and if you know what this might be an AIRSOFT version of the same thing. I also plan on owning an AR-15 before it's over with as well.

Funny thing, I just got interested in firearms just a few months ago. When it strikes you it strikes you, you know what I mean?

Sure! I gotta have a gun to guard my explosives with!

Seriously, I have a sporterized M1 Carbine, and a couple neat air pistols. One is a hand-pump .22 cal. pellet pistol, looks wicked as Hell though, scare somone off with it pretty quick.
Also I have a CO2 powered BB gun, looks like an old Colt revolver though, rotating barrel and all, nice big deep .45 sized hole on the end too, hard to tell for sure that it's not a firearm.

What can come in real handy, so I hear, is a slide-action shotgun. If you think someone has broke into the house, just get it out from under the bed, crack open the bedroom door, and give it a nice firm slide back and forth. Thieves are scared to death of shotguns I guess.

Don't own a gun yet, but will. It'll be a pistol to be used for self-defense. There are several registered guns in my house, though.

I'm proud to say that I directed the NRA's live television program, The NRA Today for a couple years. The show doesn't air anymore, though, but I keep in contact with the host, Ginnie Simone, who still works for the NRA. BTW, I was just a few feet away from Charton Heston once too!

I don't own one yet, but I'm planning on getting one. Something nice, like a revolver maybe. Or a Desert Eagle. I do, however have a Katana that I can use easily if anyone messes with me.

I grew up in centeral Ohio on a farm though we did not farm ourselves we rented our pasture to the dairy farm neighboor.
Guns and hunting were as natural as eating. My shop teacher was an NRA instructor and taught me a great deal on weekends. I worked my way thouugh art school working at a gun store doing repairs ,restocking etc.
Now living in a remote part of Oregon guns are even more a part of my life, I fill in my time between hunting seasons fiddling with my collection and target shooting.I am set up to do rust blueing. (that is when not fiddling with my MB's. I'm group leader of our neighboor watch and a member of our local fire dept. I can't carry a weapon when patroling for neighboor wacth witch is a very good rule. But usaly have a leagaly carried in the open gun on my person when not patroling.......
You hand gun lovers will like this just traded for a Ruger Bisley with unturned cylinder 71/2 inch barrel in 45 long colt, it's not unfired anymore. And here's one for shotgun lovers I bought at local gun store a nice tight 12 guage Lefever nitro special, serial no 13 the Ithaca factory historian is going to include my photos of it in a book he is writing about the Lefever history.......so theres a lot more to guns than the crap we see on TV........

Mostly, the firearms I own are for enjoyment. I won't list my inventory, but the firearm I use the most is a Beretta 12 ga. O/U Silver Pigeon II used for sporting clays, skeet and trap shooting.

On occasion, I visit friends with full auto (Class III) firearms for an afternoon of fun But, the ammo runs out QUICK on those days!

I own a few guns. I own a WWII Luger that I treat as a collectable but it is reliable enough to be personal protection if I need it. I own a SKS that I use for target shooting on my family's 30+ acre farm. I own a shotgun that I use for skeet shooting. I have a gun safe and all of the guns are stored in it.

Big revolvers.....

I was looking at a handgun magazine at Wal-Mart the other night and I saw these HUGE five shot revolvers that look to be something like an "elephant gun". I think one of them had an elephant engraved on the "rotor" It had an engraving on another part of the gun that said "maximum 500" on it. Upon reading the article the author said he couldn't shoot any more than like 40 rounds without it making him physically ill. He also said it had a recoil that is undescribable. They didn't have the gun next to a "regular" gun, but the ammo looks like it's bigger than the Desert eagle .50 cal. Some of you might have seen this thing, and I'm not sure what the story was, but all I can think of is "hand cannon"

All Hail the Silver Pigeon!

Hey presidente,

Have a Sporting Clays SPII 12/28 that I picked up lat last year and LOVE. It's got the overbored barrels and flush optima chokes. Beautifully balanced and light on the shoulder. Nice choice...
