Mushedroom's car totalled by street racer!

My friend rich, some of you have met him at the GTg's he goes by Mushedroom on here but doesn't post much, was hit by a street racer the other night when he was on his way home. His car is a total loss. For pictures of the damage, check out:

http://216.218.211.187/~ashman/rich/

Rich got very bad whiplash. He was hit at about 70 mph by the Street racing accord, while he himself was doing around 40 mph. the accord went out of control, and impacted his drivers side starting at just behind the front wheel. Rich's car was spun around 5 times and slammed into the curb.

Both rear wheels got broken, and the pictures themselves should explain the rest.

Rich is currently heartbroken over his beloved car, but the most important thing is that he is not dead or missing any limbs. He has major soft tissue damage on his body, and is in a lot of pain, on top of the pain of losing the car.

Please respond here with any comments, and I will forward them on to him.

Also, I am trying to help him build his PI case, so if any people who work with benzes can attest to the rarity of the 1992 300Ce of which around 1600 were made worldwide that year, being a rare car, especially a collectors item, and especially a factory black on black with dual airbags, would be great. It will help him get the best settlement possible so he can hopefully procure another 300ce like his to replace his poor baby.

Thanks,

Alon

Man.. glad to hear he's fine. If it were me, I would have rung that Ricer's neck like a chicken I hate it when people drive faster than they can handle or what the environment lets.

Looking at those pics, I can't believe that it almost took off the whole wheel! Man...and the BRABUS wheel that got chewed up to pieces, ouch! I hope he doesn't get screwed over by the insurance and if that Ricer is still alive... I would make him my personal b!tch for a very long time

youch! all the best wishes to mushman.

i read on a bike forum where nearly 300 people were arrested in texas that were hanging at a location know for street racing. cops pulled up and blocked exits, arrested everyone in the parking lot, no questiions asked. big time stink, officals fired, etc.

this was right after the 2F2F theater release.

I'm glad your friend is fine. I also lost my Audi last month from a rice-cooker (Mit Eclipse). I was on a stop sign from work..when I saw from my rear view mirror the Eclipse coming in fast...then I see the front end drop...smoke from the tires....I held on tight eek: ...then BAAMMM!!! There was a brake skid mark that was waaayyyy to long.

Police was there and his Mom. He was 16 or 17 year old boy with his girlfriend. You should have seen the Mom when she arrived..she was more PISSED than me.

BTW - what made me look in my rearview mirror was the BOOM-BOOM from his stereo.

Alon,

Was he sideswiped by the car or t-boned? Even though the car is totaled, I'm glad it held up as well as it did, and that he made it out alive. It's a long road back to recover from a major accident, but I hope he has a speedy one nonetheless.

Best wishes to your friend,

anthony

I'm glad he was in a Mercedes and is safe. Looking at the pictures makes me pissed, and I don't even know your friend. Sorry to hear about the news.

ouch... I was just wondering where mushedroom was...

to mushedroom:

I hope you get better soon!! The car can be replaced, a life can't. Good thing the 124's door actually held up. Despite lacking a B-Pillar!

I really hate these boy racers who think they're some hot shot. I remember at the Mazda Rev-It-Up event.. www.mazdarevitup.com
those ricers (not only their cars were loud.. they were loud too.) ended up hitting the cones all over the place because they only knew the gas pedal and didnt know the brake pedals too well...dumbasses..

Please give my condolences to Mushedroom, Alon. Glad he's ok, but I sincerely hope riceboy isn't. What a ****ty thing to happen. I think I would completely lose it if some out-of-control ricer totaled my Benz. Yes, I definitely would lose it mega.

Best of luck with the insurance, I always look so forward to dealing with the Devil, I mean the Claims Adjusters...

Best of luck

Building a case in retrospect to increase a car's fair market value based upon production rarity is an uphill battle best left for a professional or attorney

Hopefully the person bought and paid for a "state value" insurance policy or some type of collector car insurance policy based upon its rarity or collector value

otherwise, the insurance company is under no obligation to cover more than what is stated in the policy itself

to get a quick handle on the fair market value there's autotrader, local papers, e-bay, and the sales price guides: kelly, CPI, edmunds, etc.

you may find it mandatory to obtain a a professional vehicle appraisal to assist your cause

Good luck- the insurance companies have decades of legal experience in this area and are professionals a minimizing their out of pocket liability/ pay outs

best regards
-fad

I hope your friend recovers quickly...

...if you want written proof of the rarity of the 300CE, you could direct them to the www.mbusa.com website and the 15-year model overview...they have the number of cars built listed there, and the numbers more or less speak for themselves...I guess it would count as an "official" number since Mercedes-Benz published it directly on their own website...

OOH, Dat's some ugly stuff!!!

MAN,

I don't even have my Merc yet and I see stuff like that and it makes me want to kick some sorry Honda owners ass!!! Honda Accords were never engineered to be high speed cars, same goes with civics. When will these morons understand that?!? I'm glad that the driver did not sustain any life threatening injuries. I'd hate to see what would have happened if Mush was driving anything less than a Mercedes. He would not have fared as well, I guarantee that. STREET RACING IS NOT COOOOOL! TAKE THAT ***** TO THE DAMN TRACK!! (That's what I do at least- keeps the punks at bay!!)
