They're finally going to allow you to keep your cell phone number even if you change carriers?? That's GREAT!!

I'll still stay with ATT, though. Pretty happy with the company and the plan I got a few years back. My unlimited nighttime minutes start at 8:00 pm rather than 9:00 like most other people. They also go until 7:00am instead of the usual 6:00am.

They've "re-activated" the plan for me, even though it's no longer offered, two years in a row now. I have to threaten to go to another carrier first, but that always seems to work! Gotta love free-capitalism and competition!!

Cell

Be aware MB phones do not work on (PCS) Sprint. Motorola Timeports were available in different formats, TDMA, CDMA they will charge, but not communicate properly if it is a factory install. MB made them do some custom software, I have no idea why, they finally are touting a universal interface.
GSM seems to be global, but only T-Mobile makes it available in the states, you change the SIMM card and roam $ 1.00min in most of Europe.
T-Mobile sort of spotty in US especially roaming.

I like ATT for mobile service. Sprint's terrible over here as well, you can be standing in the middle of a field and have no signal, and no analog roam either. I don't know why it took them so long to make it illegal to hold your number hostage. You can keep your home phone number so why not your cel number right? Now if you could keep your old phone instead of having to buy a new one... never understood that either.

Cingular is GSM also, and I believe Cingular and T-Mobile share a network in some areas.
