Also, doesn't it bug people when others say Porsche like it is spelled Porsh. Why can't they just see that there is an "e" on the end. Come on start pronouncing it right.
Thanks
Tim

PS: Luckily it is very hard to say Mercedes-Benz wrong. Boy, would that make me angry if you said that wrong.

Seriously this is not a fair comparison. Porsches are produced in much higher production numbers and ferrari's are pretty few and far between. I've driven and owned numerous porsches'. I've only driven two ferrari's a 330GT and 246 dino. The 330 was interesting because of the 12 cylinder engine made lots mechanical noises but was'nt really very fast. The dino I thought was just junk though I hear some people like them. I've driven many porsches from owning a 356SC cab and several 911's and having driven a several of 944's and 928's I dont really think there is any comparison. The porsche is a much better car. I'd like to drive a 365GT daytona though. That was supposed to a car!

This is kinda tough for me ... as I exit my 30's and enter my 40's, I've become a 'fan' of the Porsche line. The 911 (993 really floats my boat) has put a twinkle in my eye. Where I live, 911s and Boxsters are a dime a dozen and I see a Cheyanne about twice a week as well. The engineering and performance appears to be top notch, however, since I was a little boy, I've always wanted a Red Prancing Horse ... come on guys, be honest - who didn't?

My mind says Porsche, but my heart, my soul, says Ferrari.

BTW ... if you think that's messed up, my license plate says MB PRSHA ... go figure

p.s. I must site my sources ... Willie inspired me on my license plate ... Thanks Willie!

I have an old 911 turbo ('83). It's beautifully built, sounds great, fast in a straight line (0-100 12 secs) and even faster round corners (pulls 1g). Must have been amazing at the time (started making them in the '70's).

Still, I admit to lusting after a 355..but it'll take a few years for them to sink within my budget..probably goes for most of us!

I've never owned a Porsche, but my dad was a Porsche fanatic. Comparing Porsche to Ferrari is apples and oranges. If you want a Solid everyday driver with good performance get a Porsche. If you want Exotica get the Ferrari. I will be sad to see mine go but if you want to have tons's of fun go rolling through a college town with your Tubi's singing thier song.

Ferrari has come along way on quality but the prices are staggering. On the other hand I made pretty good money on my first Ferrari and if I kept my 401K vs #2 Ferrari the $)! would be worth about 25k and the Ferrari is about break even.

The Ferrari is art work that you can occasionally drive but it is not meant to be driven daily. Porsche is a true automobie that you can drive the hell out of every day and not worry about it breaking down every week. I have a highly modified Porsche 928 so I'm a little biased.

I owned a Maserati Bi-Turbo E for a short time many years ago - boy was that car junk. I have had many other friends with Italian sports cars and they were all junk. That's why I say they are Italian crap. Ferrari has come a long way with quality but they are still 20 years behind the rest of the world in terms of mechanical dependability and everyday driveability. Many owners would argue that their Ferrari's are street legal race cars. And if that is the case, they are underpowered and are not very dependable race cars at that. If you are going to charge that much money for a car, you had better make the best and most capable car on the road. Ferrari is not doing that right now.

I have always been a Porsche guy. I have never driven either one of them, nor have I ridden in either one of them, since I am only 16 years old. I think the reason I have always liked Porsches is because they are made in Germany. They seem to make a lot of nice cars there! A lot of people say that Ferraris out-perform Porsches, but I have seen a couple of videos of the two racing, and the Porsche always seems to win. The new enzo though can probably out-perform any car on the road, but for the price! The Carrera GT and the GT2 are so close to it in performance and for a fraction of the cost.

An 83 is old Turbo? I think the '76's are, and everything else is pretty new...

I had an 87 (no, not the G50 tranny, too bad) and I would not call it "beautifully built." Mechanically, it was very reliable, but I had no end of electrical problems. I found parts pricing shocking (compared to MB) but I understand they seem practically free compared to Ferrari.

It sounds like most of you like the Porsches better, but where did the four Ferrari votes come from?
Thanks

I love "which car is better" arguments. Whether I'm behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo or Benz I still feel lucky to be there.

Well, I've driven a '96 993 911, and I fell in love with it! I really want a 993 as my next car!

then I Was gonna take a drive in a Ferrari..shoot..what was it...348? anyway, I didn't. Couldn't fit in it. lol. I mean I had my big tennis shoes and it was way cramped in the pedals, I couldn't drive safely.

And what's up w/ the Ferrari's tiny ass bucket seats man? lol

Same problem in the Lotus Esprit, couldn't drive it, small as hell.

Porsche it is.

Oh and, when people say 'Porscha,' I just want to slap them. Norman you're on my list!
It's just that for the first 15 years of my life, in France, I heard Porsche said 'Porsch.'

Anyone know how it's said in German?

It is "Porscha". I watched a show on Porsche on the History Channel and everyone that was on there said "Porscha", so I kind of figured that they were all right.
