Wow those new S600s are fast. The owner should have put an S280 badge on it though. :D

Suprisingly the Ferrari guys take it very well.

Some of the Ferrari owners take it well. Many of the others are making excuses: "our cars aren't made for the 1/4 mile" or "yeah, but get them in the twisties and see who is king." All a bunch of BS. I can guarantee if the Ferrari's were the quicker car they would be bragging about that too and it would suddenly matter how quick the car was in the quarter. Funny thing, a few of them said they had seen some of the new supercharged Mercedes on the tracks and they were just as fast as their Ferrari's. Many chose to ignore what some had observed on the tracks and just kept saying "but our cars are better on the track."

I'd be pissed at Ferrari for letting these other manufacturers make cars that are quicker, handle just as well, and that were a whole hell of a lot more dependable. I guess it is like many people that really know cars have always said: "Italian crap!" I don't care what excuse they make but if some 5000 lb luxo cruiser was able to blow my Ferrari's doors off, assuming I had one, in any condition.....I'd sell the car in a week or get it upgraded so that didn't happen anymore.

I guess I'm a little biased. I just see the die hard Ferrari fan as being from either California, New York,or South Florida with a gold chain, hairy chest, balding as well as divorced and dating a much younger woman. Mid-life crisis kind of car. Kind of like a really wealthy die-hard Corvette fan.

I like Pasta Rockets, but they can't hold a Blonde, a Brunette AND a red-head (plus driver...) and their luggage (each a bag of thongs and heels) to Vegas.

As far as speed goes I agree with the comments on why Ferraris cost so much with so many less expensive alternatives. I know it may sound cheesy but the sound of that motor is worth a lot of cheese to me.

I learned REAL fast to be very careful of WRX's, Eclipses and Supra's. Some of those guys don't put the can exhausts, wings or graphics, I've had my A$$ handed to me more times than I wish too even think about. Many of the AMG’s have done the deed as well.

Thats's one of the funniest things I have ever heard regarding Ferrari's.

The fire extinguisher is very appropriate in the front seat of that Ferrari 400A. $15,000 Ferrari great shape but has a tendency to spontaneously combust.

Most Ferraris would beat an S600 in a long windy road, but Mercedes-benz makes a car for that too. The CLK-GTR would beat just about any Ferrari in this situation. Hands down Mercedes-Benz is the best. The Ferrari enthusiasts need to just face reality. All that speed plus the greatest luxury you can buy. Wow! What a car company.

Yeah, that CL65 sounds a little weird to me. I didn't see anything about at mbusa.com. I also didn't see anything about a 7 speed automatic transmission. Does anyone know if all of this is true?

Did you notice how many of the Ferrari owners had a Mercedes in the family as well? The Ferrari and the Mercedes are not competing for the same dollars. Folks don't sit around contemplating whether to buy a 360 or an SL. These cars might be appealing to the same wallet-holder, but are not mutually exclusive choices.

Ferrari cars cannot be driven everyday and rack up high mileages without driving down their value and racking up serious maintance bills. They are heat scores of the highest order, and also attract lots of other wrong attention too. You can park a Mercedes, even an S600 at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Have any of the Ferrari owners had to nurse their cars in and out of a parkade? Is that some job! On my Porsche, which had ground clearance plenty compared to a Pasta Rocket, I had to do all kinds of "sideways" parking hijinks getting in and out of places. (My car was lowered slightly, but still...)

Ferrari builds cars without compromise, and THANK YOU for that. The day I see a Ferrari SUV, I'll know that the world as I know it has ended and I'm in hell. Porsche has already pushed the down button on the elavator. Mercedes' are compromise cars, and that's their mission. Even the SL cars compromise handling (weight) for comfort (hard top, super AC, etc...).

I just read about the CL65 AMG in one of those European car magazines. Can't remember if MB is going to bring it to the US soil though. I was reading all the car magazines at Border so I was a little mixed up with all the articles. Actually I was concentrating on the SLR articles.

Placo1 and I ran with the Horses earlier this year in the O.C./L.A. areas ... we both were running W124 500Es. We definitely stayed up with the F-cars ... 360s, 355s and 348s ... in a straight line. No problem at all, really. However, as we turned onto a classic California canyon road with twisties galore (sorry my Floridian M-Shop members but this means the road has steep hillsides and drop offs), the 500s could not stay up with the Horses or with the P-cars as well ... several in the group.

Yes, our beloved 3-pointed Star produces great cars these days, that's for sure! I can't wait for these Uber Autos to depreciate so I can afford one ... some day.

Again, I sure love that Corvette statement ... 'still rolling on the floor :p

And yes, one of my goals is to own a 308, 512 BB or TR, or a 360 ... BUT, though I am from California, I don't wear a gold chain, I have hair on my chest (nicely groomed BTW), not divorced, and would never own a Corvette ... 'cause I got HAIR on my head ... LOL!
