Thumbs up Just bought a Jeep Cherokee for $200

I just purchased a 1984 Jeep Cherokee from a gentleman for $200 bucks. Thats correct and it runs and drives great! I was wondering if anyone here owns or has information on this model. Its a 4 cylinder 4 speed. The owner had $1200 dollars worth of work done to it less than 1000 miles ago. Including new slave cylinder, clutch and 4 new BF goodrich tires. Now the bad its been sitting under a pine tree when not driven and it was mainly a weekend vehicle for the beach, so as you guessed there is quite a bit of rust in the floor pans and sap on the body. The frame seems to be fine, it's the floor pans that are pretty much shot. He says that the transfer case is bad and thats why it won't go in four wheel drive, I checked it and the unit looks new and its a rebuilt version so I'm hoping after a little tinkering it will come back to life. He has documentation that shows the motor being rebuilt at 114,000 and it's now at 150,000 and again sounds great. Anyhow, if any of you know anything about this bueat please advise. If the thing blows up tomorrow I should be able to get my money back by selling the tires.

Check out www.jeepsunlimited.com, you could probably find some T-case info there.

Which does it have? Command-Trac (part-time 4wd) or Selec-Trac (full-time 4wd w/ 2wd option)?

Its-4 Wheel on the Fly...and it Works! Tried it yesterday, 4 Low works fine but 4 High is a little squirley Ive narrowed it to a hub. The hubs are ingaged by a vaccum. I'll just have to poke around a bit until I find the problem but at least I have the most important -- 4 Low !
