Another stupid judge ruling

Heard on NPR this AM that a judge ruled that a lawsuit can be filed against Boeing for the 9/11 event. I guess Boeing becomes partly liable because the event was foreseeable.
Give me a break!!

Yeah. I think I'm getting old and square...in my old age

Makes ya wonder why Ryder truck rentals didn't get sued for the Oklahoma city bombing.

Too many lawyers...

...making too much work for themselves...

Seriously though...more and more often, the peoples' ability to resolve conflicts on their own, using common sense and courtesy, is giving way to legal proceedings and battles - stuffing the law firms' coffers. It's not as bad in Canada as in the US I think, but we're heading that way...

I see your point. But I just can't figure out how the heck Boeing is supposed to be liable. Because they didn't install anti-terrorism systems on the planes??

I'd go after the FAA on that point for not requiring such things.
That's the whole thing. Where do you draw the line as to who's responsible for what?
I work with some really dangerous equipment on a daily basis as a machinist. The potential for personal injury is very high. You should see all the stupid warning stickers on our machines. And to run these things in any kind of realistic way, we have to disable half the safety interlocks the manufacturer puts on them. I'm sure all this comes from someone cutting off a hand and sueing the manufacturer. So they have to cover their butts with all this crap. Whereas if the end user just uses his wits, well, anyway.
I just think we've become a society that wants everything to be "fail safe". And if not, it's got to be someones fault, so lets get a witch hunt going until we find a fall guy, and sue his sorry a$$. No one wants to accept the fact that it's a dangerous world out there, and no, there are no guarentees that something bad is never going to happen to you.
As someone said, my .02 cents worth.

Ah, I see that now. I'm amazed that anyone would even attempt such a case. Well, maybe not. There's always the infamous Twinkie defense case. Or "I'll sue McDonalds because I'm too fat". and "I spilled hot coffee on me, and it's not my fault".
Nevermind. I can see it happening.
I'll bet a few people got a good laugh out that one though.
"He wants to sue WHO!!??"

well, I guess NY, NY should be sued, becuse A) they allowed buildings to be built, and then B) did not prevent planes from flying into them. Can I sue this website for depriving me of sleep?? and making my nearsightedness worse? and depriving my wife of conjugal rights (although she is asleep now anyway... )
