www.miataforum.com

That forum has about 24000 members and counting. And a large percentage of the members, similar to this forum, has extensive technical knowledge about the Miata. -It's a wealth of knowledge!

The VW "Vortex" forum is pretty good, as is the Miata forum. The one thing I have gleemed is that I am VERY lucky that the Mercedes I enjoy so much is equipped with a timing chain, and not the belt that gives the 1.9L TDI owners such grief! VW mechanics are bush-league compared to what-I-thought-were-inept Mercedes techs. They can't seem to solve the simplest problem, and in trying seem to break engines with alarming regularity.

I have been a fan of the TDI and it's amazing economy, but at $30K-cdn and with potential service hassles, forget it. I'd accept the higher fuel costs and buy a topped-out Accord for the same money. Guess that's what most people do...

Actually, I used to, I got bored with it though. As much as I like my little scooter, it just as much fun to talk about as say my Mercedes or my Volvo
