Personalized license plates

Does your state have a personalized tag? If so, what kind of people seem to get them.

In MD we have Save The Bay tags and also Farm Tags. Save The Bay tags are popular with soccer mom's and hippies. Farm Tags seem to be popular with farmers and folks from the inner city.

My plate is just 7 random numbers. Everyone here in IL seems to have personalized plates. My mom's stands out, RBUS 2, on her Ford Excursion

Where I fall on the 'type of person' scale I don't know...but my old crate has 1972 MB for a plate and I love it!
Because the plates here are currently issued as 4 #'s followed by two letters my plate doesn't carry the surcharge that another vanity plate would.
P.S. For members in MA, don't bother with 1995 MB, I checked and it's not available

Go Blue

"GO BLUE" is the most coveted personalized plate among some of my friends. There's one registered in each of the 50 States.

It seems here in Calif that every other car has a personlized tag. There are a number of different designs to choose from as well. My 1982 380 SL has the standard design with numbers and letters that say 1982MBZ

Personalized tags are kinda expensive in Texas, (at least if you have to pay for 4 of them each year) and I decided that the escalation of "road rage" 'round these parts refuted the need to "advertise" my identity on a regular basis ("hey, that's the G-Benz that cut me off yesterday!).

When I drove the Bug on a regular basis in Illinois and Missouri, I did have personalized plates. VOLXWGN in Illinois and VXWAGN in Missouri due to the 6-letter limitation.

Later the owner of 1HOT VW sold his car so I snapped up the rights to that one the following year.

I also had personalized plates on my wife's cars and my other vehicles back then, but none as attention grabbing as the VW combinations.

They all hang on the walls of my garage now...
