Any high mile 1990 or newer owners?

There was some news on a Lexus forum about an LS400 (1990) owner with 555,000 miles on his car. Original owner miles, no specifics concerning repairs, maintenance, etc.

Do we have any high mileage owners that own that "new" of a car? I have encountered some high mileage MB's, but only one post 1990 (A W210...much lower than 555K-miles).

At 95,000 miles, my 98 C230 is not even in the ball-park. Eight more years? Still won't be there. About half that, if calculations are correct...

when I was in Singapore I rode in some W124 E250 taxis (94s/95s) with 1.5+ Million kilometers and they were still really nice even at speeds of 80+mph (those 250s weren't exactly rockets though)

I cannot imagine that, considering how small Singapore is in area ...

me neither.. I don't think those cabs spent all their life in Singapore. One of the drivers told me that the company bought them used from india, etc. and they were actually cheaper to buy than the Toyota Crown/Nissan xxx cabs..

the driver told me that it rolled past 1M km. and started from 0 again to about 500,000 km.

He actually offered me to buy the E250 in case I wanted to use it back home in Indonesia :p

My father's C230 has 160,000 miles on it, he has applied for the badge. My 240D has 255,000 miles on it, and has a badge, though it has had 27 years to rack up those miles

Blackmercedes I have seen a couple 200k mile Lexus for sale in my area. ES300, ES250's etc. They are all junk near the end of there usefull life. Most you could pick up for a couple grand. But why would you want to? Parts are so expensive and they are not worth putting the money into. They are just old used appliances. Compare a 1992 300E to a ES300 of the same year, both with the same milage and about the same maintance. The MB will be better in every way. There are a few members on this forum with W210's that have over 200k on the clock. Try the diesel forum.

Back in 1992 in Canada, that 300E was close to $80,000. The ES300 was about $30,000. The 300E should have been MUCH more car right out of the box. Even compared to a 190E, the Lexus was $15,000 less. If I got 200K-miles out of that ES300, I would be pretty pleased on a cost/mile basis. I have seen plenty of older ES300's with that mileage, and they are pretty used up, but still have some life left in them. To their credit, all the electrical gizmos seem to work. If only we could transplant some of the Lexus power accessories into a car with a Mercedes engine.

My 1990 300E has just over 260K miles. She just got her first head overhaul this weekend. I anticipate a couple hundred thousand miles left.

sorry to change subjects but..

Steve, are you still going to Eurofest this weekend? I'm dissapointed to say I won't be able to make it this year and I was highly looking forward to it. I have to be out of town on business. Hope you have a great time if your still going.

As my signature states, I have 132K on my W124. It's the daily driver, workhorse of the fleet.

For THIS forum, it's just getting broken in. As far as my friends and associates are concerned, it should be ready for the trash heap...of course, anything over 80K should be trade-in fodder as far as they are concerned...
