This is interesting. This is not the first time I've seen this truck listed on eBay. I saw it once before, maybe a year ago. Maybe the seller decided not to sell the truck? Or this could be a scam of some sort.
I like the lift rams

![]() Seriously, if the owner could spend $96K to retrofit a p/u to do this, why didn't he just go out and buy a REAL snow plow? Would have been cheaper!

Seems way overkill I guess you need a hobby on those long, snowy winter evenings in Reno, though.

OK guys. Reno, NV is actually a cold, mountainous area. I've been there several times during my driving years. I don't know how much snow a year they get, but if the previous owner had a large, long, driveway on a large acreage property, then the need for that contraption would be real. The Sierra Nevada mountains can get snow in the feet from one storm.

No kidding?! Who'd a thought anywhere in Nevada would get snow like that. Guess that explains it.

Have you guy's heard of Donner's pass or the story behind the name? Plus, there's a lot of good skiing around Reno.

Thanks for the geography lesson Diesel Power and Kestas!

I used to live in Berkeley. I remember going to Reno for some skiing in April and seeing cars (probably in storage) half swallowed by snow drifts.

Yup, most people think of Vegas when they hear Nevada. Driving I-80 across Nevada is one of the most desolate stretches of interstate that I can think of. Reno is a gorgeous place, especially so after driving over 400 miles seeing little more than sagebrush, hills, and the occasional tourist gouging blotch of mobile homes with a crusty hotel and even dirtier filling station.
Driving west out of Reno immediately puts you into California, and postcard mountain scenery that is absolutely breathtaking. There is also an ancient wood aqueduct that follows the interstate (or should I say the interstate follows the aqueduct), that is still in use. Driving through there in winter shows every single little leak with huge icicles! Donner pass travelling westward signals a VERY long descent into Sacramento. The scenery changes dramatically as you drop in altitude into the valley, and finally into the city itself. This is a worthwhile road trip for those who love to drive for the sake of driving. The best time to take this trip is late spring and fall, to avoid the heat, and heavy snows. |
