Things are getting bad...

Things are getting bad when I actually AGREE with something Al Gore says!   If Democrats like Al are bi+ching about government getting too big and intrusive, then it MUST be getting too big and intrusive!

Al Gore the corporate wh@re is the classic 'me too' politician. Now that the peanut gallery is starting to grumble and murmer loudly about Bush's heavy-handed approach to 'security', he sees some advantage to proclaiming his outrage--as if he 'invented' the concept of outrage.

BTW: Al Gore knows a thing or two about trying to shrink .gov -- he headed the 'Reinventing Government Project'. A project to privatize and sell off wholesale huge swathes of public services, property and community holdings.

He's been on your team all along, and you didn't even know it...

I still think most of his whining is simply sour grapes. He sees all of the activity and wishes he was the one that signed that piece of trash legislation into place.

Every time that thing goes on TV to gripe, I keep thinking of having to stop at every state line and present my "papers."

Given that his personal anti-civil-libertarian Rasputin (Joe Lieberman) would have been whispering in his ear about the necessity to enact 'sweeping changes', it's not inconceivable that Gore would have enacted something similarly authoritarian...

No support for Pres.

You bet he's pissed. The Democrats didn't support or endorse him in running for president this election. His party gave him the boot! Shut up, and sit down AL!

Sour grapes is right!

I think Al doesn't give a rat's you know what about intruding rights on the individual as much as he merely wants to be able to say something that will harm the image of GW.

For the record, I also think GW went too far with the Patriot Act.

Al Gore:

"They have taken us much farther down the road toward an intrusive, 'big brother'-style government -- toward the dangers prophesied by George Orwell (search) in his book '1984' -- than anyone ever thought would be possible in the United States of America," Gore charged in a speech.

"In my opinion, it makes no more sense to launch an assault on our civil liberties as the best way to get at terrorists than it did to launch an invasion of Iraq as the best way to get at Usama bin Laden," Gore said.
