a country of tattle tales and offended babies

more and more i see cases of people having been offended by things so trivial it makes me want to vomit....i see a lot of times on this site where people have had threads shut down because they didnt agree with what was said,or a photo they thought was too edgy,or whatever....i see it happening all over, where someone just says,"that offends me" and expect the person responsible to jump to action to console the offendee....

i was brought up in a southern baptist home, where tolerance isnt high on the priority list...and there are a lot of things that i certainly dont agree with, but far be it from me to try and prevent someone from having whatever belief or opinion they want to express....it just drives me insane when i hear about someone being offended...in my opinion,if you can still go to sleep at night, and carry on a normal day,you have not been offended....theres a saying that i use quite often when i offend someone....****ing deal with it!! people these days seem not able to grasp that concept of just dealing with some things that arent even affecting them...its like they have nothing better to do than to try and stir up a controversy about something so totally pointless....

this country was founded on freedom, the freedom to say what you like,do what you like,as long as you abide by the laws that have been set,and try not to do any wrong to the people around you....but some people dont understand that they arent the only ones with freedom, they want every one else to do things the way they see fit....and then ***** and moan like little girls(excuse me,little persons) until they get thier way....

im mainly just running my mouth, hope i havent "offended" anyone by my loathing of crybabies

tkd, thats the beauty of america....i have the right to be offended at people who get easily offended...but i dont have the right to try and silence them for saying something i dont agree with,as they dont have the right to silence my opinions when they may not agree....my beef is with little crybabies who, instead of making a point, and engaging in civil discussion on any given subject(and using freedom the way it was meant to be used),would rather whine to someone with the power(moderators) to abolish the statements they dont agree with...but this goes much farther than just here,it happens everywhere,everday....we took "one nation under God" out of our pledge of allegiance for crying out loud....you know what? if you dont have a God,just skip that part when you pledge allegiance to this country, dont go crying to someone saying that the fact that God is even mentioned offends you....i think as a people were getting soft, and we cater to way too many totally frivolous causes, just because it "offends" someone.....like i said,if you can still sleep at night, and get through the day,and you havent been harmed," F***ING DEAL WITH IT....and realize that if something doesnt apply to you,or if you dont agree with it, it isnt right to try and have it changed to suit your whining little self

85drtysthbenz, I agree with you and everything, but on the pledge of allegiance, under god was originally not included, it came in a revision by someone other than the original author. Unfortunately, not the argument by opposition of it. But yes, who frikkin cares, its not that big a deal, like the ten commandments in the court, not worth lodging a golf club up one's own rectum over.

If you guys are so thick skinned, why does this bother you so much? Shouldn't you by your very definition of yourselves, just let it all roll of your back? Maybe you are just crying/whinning the other side of the same coin?

sounds like you're aiming to offend someone. If your intention is specifically to offend someone, and not say anything productive, I see no problem with the moderators stepping in. A great example of this is a thread that went on where I was trying to argue that BMW's look nice, and tobasco decided to call them "jap cars" and bitterly argue with me without proving any point whatsoever. The thread was going nowhere, and I asked a moderator to close it because it was unproductive and would only lead to personal attacks. You can find the thread here http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?threadid=80495&perpage=15&pagenumber=2 , and use your own discretion, but if you really want to just sit around and offend people, go join www.off-topic.net and have a ball.

i never once aimed to offend anyone...it seems to me that you took 4 words out of a whole post of mine, and took it out of context...maybe youre one of the people i was speaking about....

and i agree with a moderator shutting down a thread because of personal attacks or vulgarity, for the good of this website...this is a clean website, and it should stay that way...but if one person has a different opinion on some lifestyle,or anything for that matter, like whether BMWs look good...who cares? and i did read that thread...you were the one who started the personal attacks on tobasco if you want to know the truth, and he was being nice....you kept escalating the situation with snide comments about his intelligence....which is PRECISELY what im talking about....you didnt acknowledge the fact you started bashing him first...you got upset because he said that "bimmers looked like jap cars from the back"....and the 2 of you just kept rolling in the dirt like 2 little 8 yr olds from there

This thread is offensive, and I'm telling the moderator.
Hey moderator, he said ****ing again!

Go take a nice cold shower, pour yourself a drink, take the little yellow pill, and everything will be alright.:p

actually, I didn't start calling him ignorant untill he called me bimmer-son and making fun of my car. I called him ignorant because I am not japanese, and I drive a mercedes, so he must have been ignorant to those facts to call me that. I think I took the quote in perfect context... if you weren't trying to offend someone, why don't you be more tactfull and find out why someone was offended, so you can prevent it from happening a second time? Just saying "F***ING DEAL WITH IT" is going to create more of an issue than you started off with. I can't even believe that you think that tobasco was being nice, he was attacking me and my taste without any reasons or evidence, much like a 2 year old would argue. He started bashing me by making fun of my car, taste, and nationality (2 of which he was wrong about). I had the thread closed because it was going nowhere, tobasco was never going to prove his point, he would just state it and make fun of me. seems like this thread is going nowhere too...

.....and that makes it any different how?

Robert, I like you, and am glad you've decided to hang with us again. But maybe you need to drop your defenses just a notch or two. Just put forum members you really dislike/disagree with on ignore, and it's a lot easier to get around here.
Just a suggestion.

Wait -- you have no battles. You only have "a kind word and a smile", remember? :p

I basically agree with you, but I don't believe that personal attacks of any kind should be tolerated. Attacking one's opinions, which should be no-holds-barred, is not the same thing as attacking the person expressing the opinions. One is totally acceptable -- the other is not. If I see that going on, I just ignore the thread. I'm not the law, and shutting down or reporting threads isn't my job.
