Libya gives up WMD
Just seen a press conference given by Tony Blair. He said the Libyans are dismantling their WMD programs and want all to be forgiven.
He more or less also said 'Iran take note'. Does this seem like good news? I'll have to pinch myself.

Might be something to do with the successful negotiations over the Lockerbie PanAm bombing.
I guess everyone has forgotten about the machine gunning of a British Policewoman from the Libyan emabssy in London a few years back.

Hmmm. They feel so good about having to admit responsibility and pay-out millions in punative damages that they couldn't wait to disarm? I guess that makes sense only if you're the despotic barking-mad chief of a certain North African nation. I'd forgotten about that murdered policewoman. Nothing ever came of that? Botnst |

Disarm
\Dis*arm"\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Disarming; p. pr. & vb. n. Disarming.] [OE. desarmen, F. d['e]sarmer; pref. d['e]s- (L. dis-) + armer to arm. See Arm.] 1. The fear of being made an example of, disarm or kiss your butt good bye. If we don't disarm I'm gojng to end up like that Saddam guy. Disarming is the only way I can keep my solid gold bath tub. That G. Dubbya is one crazy dude we better disarm. |

I wonder whats going to happen when he does turn over the WMD's. It ca n go two ways the first being hip hip hooray to the Bush Admin for putting so much pressure on them and using Iraq as an example or since it's fact that Libya has had them for some time why didn't Bush act on it.

Apparently the Libyans (well that mad f***er Gadaffi) are exchanging their WMD program and what they know about Al Queda for investment to help modernise their oil industry.
The obvious question here is why couldn't this have been done with Iraq - I doubt if Gadaffi is any less mad than Saddam.

Why not with Iraq?
Could it possibly be that nobody took the threat of force seriously until after Iraq? Now would be a really good time to ask Bashir Assad if he enjoys life. |

Yep, though I guess he may be busy shredding and re-writing the files from his secret police force to make himself (and his father) a benevolent whatsit.
Why is it that no arab state is democratic? Is it lack of beer?

That's a darned good question that has puzzled me a long time. It must be related to why so few Islam-dominated countries are democratic. Both observations should serve as a stern warning to Europe, with its growing arab-muslim populations.
A corallary to your question is what will Israel do as the Arab-Israeli population approaches majority status. Botnst |
