Do you wave at other merc drivers?

do any of you wave or flash your headlights at other mercedes drivers when you see them driving a car like yours?
I always feel like doing it when i see another 124 or older merc coming the other way.
Most of the drivers 'round here are miserable buggers though so they'd probably think I'm weird... then again maybe I am:-)
Whenever I see a newer merc and I clock it's driver, seems to be either some fat, slimey looking guy on his cell phone, or a middle-aged woman with bad hair driving the SL she got in her divorce settlement. Am I stereotyping here??? If it's a wagon, usually looks like Ned Flanders driving. Maybe that's just PA for ya :-)

I always wave if I see a fellow MBDiesel!

I saw a VW van years ago that had a "I brake for plants" bumper sticker. We ended-up camping & botanizing SW of Chihuahua for a month.

Does that count?

I always got friendly blinks in my Porsches (65 912 53 356 ) But the few times I've blinked an MB recived nothing but dull stares even when I blink another 115 240D?

I had a friend that drove a corvette and everyone he came across with one seemed to wave at him. He'd wave back and thought it was great. I have yet to receive a wave from another MB driver yet. :(

If i should wave or flash my lights everytime i meet another MB, i would look like a retard flabbing my arms around all the time and continuesly flashing my lights. I would get arrested! :D

I live in Denmark. And we have imported, (most from Germany), used MB's ALL over the place.

But when driving my Miata, i do wave and pop the pop-up headlights when i meet a fellow Miata driver. (Miata's are pretty rare around here, unlike MB's)

There's to many MB to flash my lights at and waive to each one. I would probably just get arrested! The MB drivers around her all seem to be jerks. I have met a few cool ones. One old German I ment couldn't say enough about his 1983 300SD. He loved that car. And he couldn't say how much of a pos his new E320 4 matic was. quote "That is not a real Mercedes" In general the older car drivers seem to be cooler, the drivers of the new ones just rented them for a statues symble.

If I flashed my lights, they might think I was telling them a cop ambush was up ahead.

It was a thing that i used to do when I had my Triumphs and Jag XKE. I've started doing it now that I have an older SL to the other drivers of older SLs, and about half of them wave back. Every once in a while, a newer SL driver will wave to me. I guess that is out of respect for the classic heritage of the car. (Or NOT) Happy Holidays BOB

I tried it for a while but soon attributed all the middle fingers I saw to the flasher lights and waving.... Must be the silver stripes, they probably thought i was just some punk.

william rogers 12-23-2003 01:46 PM

Yea, but I live in the land of the white ford 4WD pick up's and black Cameros with skull and cross bone decals, so other than when we are in town an MB on these back roads is a rare sight. If you waved or blinked at every MB in Eugene OR you would have a sore arm and a worn out light switch..........

Flashing headlights around here mean nothing more than "Speedtrap ahead!". But I've tried waving a few times. I think I've only ever gotten one real friendly wave back, a bunch of half hearted waves like "Do I know you? ", and alot of no responses at all.
But my Audis always get a wave back from a fellow Audi-er:cool: Must be a message there somewhere.

waving

Nice thought, but when you eliminate those talking on cell phones, eating egg mcmuffens, talking with their hands, putting on makeup, etc, almost all you're left with are the inattentive, drunk, on-drugs and non-rear-view-mirror-using.

I used to wave to other mcs when I rode my 80 KZ1000. Then, those on Hardleys would only wave to other Hardleys. Just keep my hands on the wheel now except for the occasional bird.

jpb5151 12-23-2003 07:28 PM

I only waved (flashing the lights would be misinterpreted without a doubt) to one MB driver while passing them at a stop sign. There are way too many MB cars in this area to make it a regular thing, and some of the drivers look rather stuffy anyhow.
