anyone know about changing FWD clutch for nissans?

I just aquired an 88' 200sx nissan that needs a new clutch.
Does anyone know how to tackle this job? or where I can find a step by step procedure online?
I've replaced clutches in RWD cars but never a FWD.
this job looks like it may be tedious )
Thanks alot guys

Jeff

You should be able to pick up a Haynes manual for this car which should step you through it. I have a Haynes for an Accord and it does not look like there is too much to it if you are a diy'er type.

I concur with engatwork. Get a Haynes manual and study it. Some FWD cars will require that you pull the engine and perform the clutch replacement on the bench due to lack of space to spread the engine and tranny apart in place. Honda's are notorious for the lack of space. I'm not sure about the Nissan. A good quick way to check for sufficient space is to look at the gap between the tranny housing and the side of the engine bay down low. 6 inches would be an absolute bare minimum to be able to get them apart in place.

The Haynes manual actually shows you dropping the transaxle/tranny to change it. They make it look pretty straight forward.

AFAIK, an 88 200SX is RWD. A 98 200SX is FWD and you can find out all about those at www.se-r.net.

You might offend some folks by suggesting that all Japanese cars are FWD
