System Passwords - what system do you use
In this day and age, one has to provide passwords at many sites as well as at work.
At my workplace, you (1) Have to change passwords every 3 months (2) Cannot use the last three passwords (3) has to be more than 8 characters (alphanumeric)...... Well, my problem is that I hate to keep track of the last 3 passwords in 5 different applications. I was wondering what methodology other forum members use to get it down to a science ! Amit |

We use SAP, MS Network and Lotus here and I struggle with the same issue. I just write them down and keep them in my desk drawer.

Include numbers as part of your password, and just increment the number when you have to change the password. Lots of systems are now requiring you to include both numbers and letters anyway.

I cannot (will not!) memorize an eight-character random string of numbers, text, and symbols--which is what our DP folks want us to do. We have to change passwords every two months. I have one for logon, one for accounting, one for personnel, and a couple for special functions. So I'd have to write the fool things down, defeating the purpose.
Plant and animal anatomy, physiology, morphology, and taxonomy have provided me with an long series of phonetically and correctly spelled alphanumeric passwords that are easy to remember and logically consistent. That's a key for cracking my passwords, but I'll bet you wont guess passwords correctly in three tries, after which the system locks the user out. Price of glory. Botnst |

for regular password changing I use the password1 password2 etc where the number is the month. Change on the first of the month no braincell required for the entire year.
