It's simply a matter of being armed vs. unarmed. The biggest football player in the world still can't stop the smallest bullet. Heck the M16A series rifles are only .223. The weapons they forgot to use, it seems, were their door locks. What a shame...

Whacko's like this are the reason why I have a rapidly growing (60 pounds now @ 5 months old) Great Pyrenees curled up at the foot of the bed at night, and two more very large dogs in the back yard.

Very good deterents, indeed. Hopefully this post will be wakeup call to anybody on this forum who routinely has more exposure than they should. Criminals are opportunistic. Simple things like locking your doors even when you're home, having dogs, motion lights, being aware of what is around you, etc. go a long way in removing you from their list of potential targets. You don't have to be bulletproof, just harder than someone else. It's like this joke:

Two businessmen are playing golf out west when a cougar approaches them. One of them opens his golf bag and pulls out a pair of running shoes and hurriedly puts them on. The other guy says " What are you doing? You'll never outrun that cougar, even with those shoes." He replies "I don't have to outrun that cougar, I just have to outrun you!"

The SOB was probably cranked and the man just wanted to throw him out. The son heard the commotion, came downstairs and the creep started shooting. When he fired at the K-9 officer he signed his own death certificate. I'd like to know how many rounds he took. Every one saved me and every other Georgian money. I hope the dog recovers too.
