Turn the page......new chapter

For the last twelve years I have been the facility manager of a distribution center for a Fortune 1000 company. We have been successful in our operations in every measureable way. We have over 13 years without a lost time accident. It has been a job that was both challenging and rewarding. I had achieved a 'comfort zone' in my career.
For no reason other than an executive decision, we are being closed. The good news is that no jobs will be lost. We will transfer them to a manufacturing facility in the same town.
Except me. My career path now takes a sharp turn and faces some degree of uncertainty. All I can say is that if anyone knows of an empty 300,000 sq. ft. building in Middle Ga., then let me know!!! I've got a little project to work on!!!

I am still with my company, only now I'll be at corporate level. As it stands now I will manage a Supplier Logistics Center to support production for one of our factories in Middle Ga. Hopefully my SLC will be located somewhere between Perry, Ga. and Eastman. It could well be in the industrial park south of Macon. Hence the need for a large building.

Well, you need enough room to move around!! I hate bumping my butt into the wall every time I lean over a fender!!!

Seriously, just when I got to the age where I thought I could slow down some and enjoy life, suddenly I'm back at the starting line with an uphill run with no finish line in sight!! Although I am pleased to be picked to start up a highly technical and important function, I will miss the days when the golf course called and I could go trod the emerald carpet chasing the white ball. Such is life.
Maybe a new car would soften the blow!!!

I'm in a similar situation, I worked for the compnay I am in right now for 6 years part time since i'm a stduent. Today I come in to work, and I see absolutely no cars in that parking lot, I was the first one there. I go in to the building, and there is not a single person here either. A few minutes later, finally someone comes in and I find out that most of the personnel working next to me has been laid off.

Why this happened? They won't say. Sad day.

xp

Do you want to buy a tie? I have one that has been used twice - one wedding and one funeral. There are still some tear stains from the wedding.

LOL!! Up until about three years ago all those corporate guys wore starched white longsleeve shirts with $70 ties. One day the new CEO walks in with khaki pants and a denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Since then the ties are gone!! Actually the CEO was dressing like I had been for years!! I'm glad I turned that dress code around!!:p
