It's a spy bot that takes over you internet explorer, I am having trouble removing it because it is running in the memory and cannot be deleted.

when i found that in my kid's computer it drove me crazy. be very careful with this sucker, don't just delete it. there are explicit procedures and how to eliminate it. if you don't follow the procedures you will find that name resolution (DSN) no longer works - this is a big PITA. do a search on LSPFIX...

Also, I had to boot into "Safe Mode" to get rid of some of the junk (made me feel good about running only Linux and FreeBSD on my own computers ).

I use Ad aware and spy bot and think I am gaining on it. The question I have is this was loaded via Active X without my permission; it's an American company why can't they be held responsible?

Looks like I beat it. I restarted in safe mode, and then ran Ad Aware and SpyBot and everything seems back to normal.

My Explorer security settings are now set to HIGH to prevent anymore Active X controls from screwing things up.

It prevented my Google tool bar and whenever you tried to manually go to Google it would redirect you to Blaze find, I am seriously thinking about switching to Apple.

I recommend everyone download ad aware 6 and check their systems I guarantee you will be amazed at how many companies are tracking what you do online, or off line for that matter. My system is running much better now as well.

I had a run-in with one called Whazit a while back. It was a royal PITA to get rid of it completely.

People who write and distribute this crap ought to be just taken out and shot. Since that's probably illegal, a big lawsuit would be the next best thing. I wonder how one would go about tracing it back to a particular website? There has to be a way to do that.

Check your browser privacy settings. After Common Name crept in with FreeRip (should have paid attention to the name), something set IE to allow all cookies.

I ran Ad Aware twice a day for 4 days before it identified and dealt with Common Name and the other garbage that came with FreeRip.

There was also N-case and a couple other instances of junkware.

I am not a computer type of guy.. but I have a problem with my IE browser. Probably the same problem Jeff is going through/went. Somehow ever since I restarted my computer and open up IE, my homepage went from yahoo.com to some unheard of site .. I change it back to yahoo.com... and I still get back to that unheard of site. How do I fix this annoying problem?

Snibble, you got the bug as well, download ad aware restart your computer in safe mode with networking, you can do this by pressing F8 at the beginning of the reboot then start adaware and let it do its thing.
