Photos are Personal Property, Right?
Isn't a photograph of me my personal property ? No one can use it without my permission, right? Well, a former acquaintance from the bicycling club who I haven't even seen in like 2 years has been using my picture on the internet, sending it to people and saying it's a picture of him. Isn't this illegal? What can I do?
My sister's friend told me about this last March but I didn't believe her, then someone else told my sister that he was in one of the Connecticut chat rooms sending my picture out. Now I know for sure and feel pretty powerless. I called his cell number and left a message, but haven't heard from him yet. |

they are the property of whoever takes them actually. Unless you paid someone to take them then in a way you both claim ownership. I discovered this when some kid was using pictures of my 500 on his site. It led me to use this

What Dan said.
I think that any pictures posted on the Internet, unless you have a disclaimer like what Dan posted, automatically become public domain, whether you want them to or not. If you have that notice and someone steals the picture, I think you can then take some form of action...otherwise, there's nothing you can do. Sorry... |

Would it be close to ID theft if it's shown that the person was posting a picture of you and claiming to be you?
