any golfers from the orlando area?

i'll be in orlando for a conference towards the end of the month.
i'd like to play golf at an inexpensive course (read: frugal 240d owner here). i don't mind driving out of town since i will have a rental car.

i know the locals don't play the tourist courses so i was hoping for some tips as to where to go. any help is appreciated.

I am not sure what it is like now butwhen I lived in Miami, the public courses were usually very good and cheap for the florida resident. The Links at Key Biscayne, was like 30 bucks for resident but like 70 or something for the out of state person.

Therefore, check out the cost between the private and the public courses, I would assume public would still be cheaper, but you never know.

Blonde, beautiful, and a 10 handicap.

The organizer of the conference isn't putting together a golf/tennis diversion? How are they getting anyone to go to the conference?!?!

Check with the hotel you're staying in, chances are they can get you on a course with a discount. If you want to drive three hours to Boca Raton I can get you a tee time for free, but I want at least 4 strokes on each side. Blonde, beautiful, and a 10 handicap.

Jen, please pardon the off-topic.

I have a 16 yr-old daughter who's taken-up golf at school. Nobody in my family plays so I have no idea where the interest came from and obviously have no useful opinion about golf.

A friend of mine who retired and moved gave my daughter a set of clubs, a bag, and a huge (5 gal bucket) of golf balls. My friend (woman) is about 5'8" and my kid is about 5'3". My kid says the clubs are too long. They probably are.

What should I do?

I'm secure enough in my manhood to take 5 per side!

Did you get your Pings custom fitted?

If your daughter is already grown up and not expected to grow anymore, then go to a ProShop that specializes in golf and they should be able to fit/size the clubs to your daughter. They cut the shaft down.

If your daughter is not fully grown have her wait unless she plans to drop serious coin later on some clubs that she really likes.

i suggest she not use those clubs. the heel and toe lie ....ummm......the way the bottom of the club sits on the grass will be awkward for her because of her height. this will lead to poor shots and cause her to abandon the game. i suggest getting clubs with shorter shafts and a decent instructor.

the grip it and rip it approach will only lead to bad habits and inconsistent ball trajectories.
nothing feels like a perfectly executed swing. i guess it's kinda like doing a perfectly good valve job on the diesel.

I'm in Orlando but don't play golf. I'll ask a friend though where a good course is and post here later.

Jen - Re. Grip it and rip it - I just swing hard in case I hit it.
