infinity j30

i have 4 mb diesels. junior janko wants nothing to do with them. i be stupid and easily manipulated. ergo, the following j30 question. have had the thing for a year. second incidence of cranking fine but not starting. first occured in cold of winter with snow coming down. after futzing with it for an hour or so, it finally did start fine. my thought then, water in the gas. second incidence was yesterday. raining, and the car was not started for two days or so. anyone know of something specific to check on this model. intermittant, so i don't know where to start. do i have spark? don't know because, and this is exceedingly embarassing, i can't find the spark plugs/wires whatever. and i can turn a wrench. fuel? haven't checked. again, any help will be greatfully appreciated. and - the search of the 'infinity' sites was an abissmal failure. those of you out there that do not have this site/members in the absolutely highest regard should visit some of the other sites. they be really worthless. thank you.

Can't help you myself. I had friends that had one, and had absolutely no problems with it. Great car all around!
But might try reading thru this at Edmunds.com:

http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/WebX?50@244.ZKzJc2SFsC0.1@.ee9e613!make=Infiniti&model=J30&ed_makeindex=.ee9e613

It's rather long, but may be something in there to help you. Not sure. Good luck!

Oops! It didn't take as a link here. You'll have to copy and paste the whole link in a new browser page.

Crap! Still didn't work. Allright. Go to www.edmunds.com go to "town hall", then Infiniti, then J30, then under "Discussion title", go to "Infiniti J30"

rickg, thank you. frustratingly slow site and hard to use. did, however, spot something worth trying. advise was to turn ignition key to on position, then wait a few seconds for the fuel pump to charge injection system to full pressure. worth trying. wish me luck. and again, thank you. not critical that i get the thing running. but then,...... junior is driving one of the diesels. and that not be good.

Good! Yeah, that site isn't real user friendly, but I have found some good stuff there on occasion for my wifes Chrysler.
Hope that works! Had to do the same thing to an old Nissan 280ZX my daughter had a few years ago. Not a "fix", but a way around whatever was really wrong. (I think in our case it was a faulty cold start valve. It leaked, letting the fuel system leak down when the car was turned off overnight.)
Good luck,again

This may be a little too stupid for a solution, so I apologize if I'm telling you something you probably already know. Maybe it was condensation in the ignition? I've had that happen to me and seen it happen to a lot of other people. I don't know anything about your car though, the whole possibility may be mute.

Not a bad suggestion, but I think the J30 has a distributerless ignition system. (No cap and rotor)
But still may be an ignition prob of some sort too.

I'm sure they're in there, just buried deep somewhere. My wife's Chrysler Cirrus (or as I like to call it, "you can't be Cirrus" ) has them buried pretty well. I won't touch that thing. You have to pull off the whole intake manifold to change the plugs. Luckily it only has to be done every 100k miles.

A good place to start would be to check the computer codes that should point you in the right direction. Autozone checks them free.

Good idea too.
I also saw some references to some of the ignition coils going bad on these cars(they have 6 coils).
