My computer can't find hotmail, but redirects me to some site called "Shopnav" instead. I know hotmail works, because I'm able to access emails via incredimail, which uses my hotmail account.

Does anyone know what's going on and how I might fix this?

It's actually worse than I thought. I can't click on a site and have that site come up. I tried to click on the "trunk monkey" thread and that stupid shopnav comes up again!

You have a virus specifically a spyware or adware virus which has hijacked your IE and is redirecting you to the website.
If you can get to http://www.spychecker.com/ you should be able to download an anti spyware program.

Baring that I would go into tools/internet options and delete all my temporary internet files and cookies, I would also turn my security settings in the security tab up to medium or high.

I tried both deleting cookies and temporary files. I also currently have spyhunter searching through my computer for viruses. I deleted one, but it's still searching.

The problem still exists. I think my java script may be disabled. Any idea how to get it up again? I tried and can't figure it out. I did decrease the security setting on java script from high to medium, but that didn't make a difference.

This thing is really driving me nuts! It seemed to go away yesterday. I could get into hotmail, but my computer couldn't find its opening homepage: washingtimes.com.

Now it's back to the way it was at first: can't seem to find hotmail and "shopnav" search engine comes up instead.

I did a scan with spyhunter and found one thing that it considered severe and removed it. No noticable change.

BTW, just before I ran spyhunter, I opened an e-greeting from a well-known source. It came up in the scan as "medium" security risk. Go figure.
