With the profusion of 'erectile dysfunction' medicines on TV recently, I am amazed and the number and frequency of the
commercial spots. And the side effects, "...if an erection lasts for more than four hours, seek medical help..." The horror, the horror. What do visitors to this country think of american men?? Maybe I don't want to know. I would like to see this eye pollution disappear. What do you think???

Something seems basically goofy about advertising prescription medicine on TV. Great way to keep the price down. Hate to say it, but there ought to be a law.

Paul: I've been wondering the same since I've first heard that commercial... "Only 4 hours is serious? Am I dying?" or something like that was my first thought

Without a doubt that tidbit of health information was added as a "marketing ploy".:p

The marketing ploy comes in when they put those adverts back to back with those ads for meds that (supposedly) make you longer

I am also amazed at the quantity of ads on TV about this. But my problem is not necesarily the ads or the fact that they advertise them. I do not care.
It is the time at which they advertise them. Last week I was watching Funniest Home Videos or one of those types of shows on one of the networks, with my 8 year old daughter. The ad was during this show. Mind you at 8 PM or something. This is a family show at a family hour, given that this medication is for making families, yet not too appropriate for airing at that time or during the run of this show. As for a "woodie" lastly 4 hours, can you imagine walking into the emergency room and explaining that which you have protruding...... Iggy

But now the question remains what is the Rx for this particular ailment? I mean, it would be logical that what one was doing before would be "the" Rx. Now would they provide the "candy stipper?" And is it covered under your normal HMO? Iggy

Either way, be it the 300 lbs or the premium service, you can always go home to the wife and say it was medical treatment that the doctor "prescribed" it for you........ Maybe this is the answer to the MidLife crises thread!!!! Iggy
