RainX sucks! I put it on and can't buff it properly. There's this white haze on the windshield that's pissing me off! I tried washing the car and it's still on there. Grrrr!

It's just that at certain angles when the sun is low the haze shows up bigtime! Yep I put it on the outside.

Use RainX Wax not liquid. The wax is much better at coming off the windshield and still does a great job.

I have been a happy user of RainX for about 30 years. The best way to put it on is to pour it from the spout onto the glass and into a paper towel, then rub it around good. I usually use it to dissolve bug guts and any other stuff on the glass as it has an acidified version of isopropol alcohol in it, which cleans right down to the glass. Be careful not to get it on the window gaskets or the car's paint.

Then, after letting the stuff dry completely to a haze, I dampen another paper towel with clean water and wipe the haze off. I turn the paper towel a few times to present a reasonably clear surface on the towel. I may have to do this more than once. Then I buff the window a little to get the last signs of the haze off. It is best to use a regular towel for that last step.

If you are having a problem it may be that the RainX has combined with something on the window and has not completely dissolved it. I (I know you are not liking this) would put it on again, being very generous with the amount you put on. It cannot build up as the active chemical in RainX forms a hydrogen bond to the glass, and does not bond with itself. So, once every site on the glass surface has been occupied, the rest of the active ingredient is left behind, loose, which is the haze. Another application will dissolve the last one, and, if there is something already on the windshield, enough of that solvent will clean the glass down to the glass itself.

Since RainX only has a hydrogen bond holding it on, it does not last very long all by itself. So there is no need to scrub it off. It will come off within a month if you have the normal rain and road grime. Good luck, Jim

I've had trouble buffing the haze off when it was too cold in my unheated garage (maybe about 40F or so?). It's much easier if it's warmer.

I'm not so sure about the rainx but road grime, oil, and hard water spots are easily removed with toothpaste and a sponge or lint free cloth! Rinse well and finish with 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water.
