327 mph, 4.5 sec 1/4 - a weekend at the races

If ya'll have not been to a National NHRA event lately the competition is awsome. I have attached a pic of the timing board after the best race I witnessed this weekend. This was at the Southern Nationals. It is unbelievable when the top fuel cars go by. Nothing like it in the world.

Fuel of choice. Wonder how it would do in the "experimental" 300D. I suspect the head bolts would not hold up.

Scrap aluminum. The show that makes this is quite impressive.
Diesel is for killing termites, gas is for cleaning parts, alcohol is for drinking and nitro is for racing.

Absolutely amazing. Love the smell of Nitro! I still have a shirt from Winter Nationals 1990 which says "Speed limit 300mph!"

Imagine if they used "modern" engine management systems. Those things would be doing 400mph in a decade!

Drag racing is close to the top of all motorsports I like. I love watching those chassis flex up and down the strip, flames flying... mmmm.

Just got back. I will post some pics tomorrow sometime. The nighttime party at the strip is 3/4 of the fun and I am beat right now. There was a funny car record broken one of the two days.

One of my friends that race super gas lost by .001 seconds and my other friend made it to the semi final rounds but broke out.

el pres - here is a nice, single lady that is real fast in her alcohol dragster (250+ quarter miles). Anybody want to guess who this young lady is? Let's just say she will one day be a Force to be reaconed with one day.
