Westwood Mass. safe?

I may need to do some business travel to Westwood,MA. Could somebody give me the lowdown on what the town is like? I may want to take the family along depending on what I hear.

Thanks!

Welcome to Massachusetts. Westwood is a suburb about 15 miles west of Boston. If I were you and you do bring the family I would stay in Boston because there is a ton of stuff to do and see. I'd recommend the Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street (shops and galleries), the Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Science, the Aquarium, The Children's Museum (depends how old your kids are) Harvard Square. I'd suggest going to DigitalCityBoston to see what's happening the time you're here. Always concerts, and there's Fenway Park as well.
Any more questions feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, to answer your first question. Yes, Westwood is safe.

Its a nice area. You'll be in the country gentry part. Tourist wise, if going into Boston scares you, go out to Cape Cod and see some of the finest seacoast in the world. Make sure you use lots of sunscreen or you'll get the sunburn of your life.

Take a boat ride out to Martha's Vineyard or go on a whale watch. If you do go into Boston, stay on the well mapped tourist trails. It is the most absolute easiest city in the country to get totally lost in. There is little logic to the street layouts.

Most of Mass is pretty upscale. The nasty stuff is really in the Northeast corner of the state - Lawerence, Lowell and Haverhill all have big crime problems. Boston itself has become so expensive most of the rif-raff have been driven out.

Thank You

Thank you for the replies. I'm sorry I didn't get to my Thank You sooner. I look forward to coming to MA. Unfortunately, the kids have plans and are too young to be left alone in the house. So, I'll be going by myself.

:(

Maybe the hotel will have a pool.

Well then, all the really great bars are in Foxboro.

Now Now, let's not attack Lawrence. Lawrence was once a beautiful city, it hit a roughpoint when the mills closed, but it's coming back. And when it does, well I'm not quite sure but you'll see! However, please feel free to ---- on Haverhill and Lowell as much as you can. ;)

To top it off, there is a huge Mercedes-Benz dealer on Providence Highway. Number 400 I believe ;)

Mercedes-Benz of Westwood

if you have time, visit Hatch and Sons to see the collection of unbelievable old MBs

www.hatchandsons.com

It's out in the Wayland, MA area (West of Boston).

Lets just say that certain parts of Lawrence have a Carribean flavor.

hahaha i'm in lawrence right now at work and as i look out the window......i must agree.....no shortage of hondas and toyotas with 19"s in this fine city . . . . :)

A few year's back my best friend's dad owned a sheet metal shop along the river downtown. He was literally burgalized out of business. One day we went out there with him after he had closed shop, and when we got there they had literally stripped the place so bare the toilet fixtures were gone. I also remember a time we returned a rental car to a place that turned out to be in the very Caribean part of town, and we were actually robbed by the employees of the rental car place, who demanded a cash "payment" because the tank wasn't full. Three of them blocked the door while the guy behind the counter demanded the money. I still feel like we were lucky to get out of there alive. It was also well known that if you wanted to get rid of your car for the insurance money, there were certain streets in Lawrence you could go to and arrange to have it burned, stolened or push into the Merrimack for a small fee. I hope things are better.
