Unhappy CJ R.I.P.

Bad news for a Sunday, today I had to put my cat CJ to sleep. He had a tumor growing around his heart and the vet could no longer keep draining his chest every week. The past few days he was not eating, would be in pain if you picked him up and would not do anything but sit still in the same spot for hours upon end. After a visit to the vet today, it was in his best interest to be euthanized. For those of you who are wondering what CJ stands for it is Curious Jorge, since he was always exploring and getting into trouble.

Sorry to hear about CJ.

Unfortunately it's natural to outlive your pets. And it's a tough one every time.
Right now i have a little cat that follows me everywhere i go, and participates in everything i do, just like a dog would do. It will also be a sad day when her time comes.

Best thing to do to get over it, is to get a small fluffy kitten.

Sorry to read of the loss of your pet. That should be family member because that's what they become. I had an 18 y/o cat that got cancer behind her eye. She lived 6 months after the diagnonis until I had her put to sleep. My cat lived a great life and was always loved and admired. She was very nice to me too.

Get another cat in a little while.

my favorite cat had to be put down due to poisoning from fleas.
in his life though he ate lobster and fish (we lived by the ocean) and was a good mouser.
i miss him still 25 years later...

I'm sorry for your loss and empathize with the sadness. I lost one of my two cats a year and a half ago due to liver cancer. He also sat and did nothing for long periods, couldn't eat and would sometimes "cry". I had to have him euthanized.

I had him and my other cat for about 12 years, since both were kittens.

Their names are #1 (deceased) and #2 respectively. I figure cats are fairly indifferent to name, but my remaining cat has started to follow me everywhere now that his buddy is gone. I've also noticed that they both always prefer the company of women guests than men (they were/are both Toms).

Very sorry for your loss. Cats communicate their feelings and share in ours very clearly, even though they don't talk. Cat owners often feel a profound emotional bond with our beloved kitties. So much of what cats, and really all pets give, is love, it’s funny that even though people have a lifetime of opportunity to learn how to give love, we are always it’s seekers and never it’s master. Perhaps because of this, when a cat passes away, we often feel very alone and broken hearted.
