Bought a 1995 E320

Here it is: http://www.cars-on-line.com/95mb16587.html

I don't know how much longer the owner will leave the sale description up.

The car is immaculate. The paint and body are flawless, not even a scuff or door ding, no fading, no rock chips. Not even love bug etching (if you don't have love bugs wher you live, well good for you). Both owners kept all their receipts for everything, including oil changes.

To all of you who gave me advice and such, I deeply appreciate it. I wish I could buy this car and also an SD that I really like a lot.

But what swayed me to the E320 was my wife saying she just couldn't ever trust a 20 year-old car. Nothing would dissuade her so I didn't even try. The reason for her feelings is largely my own fault. I don't mind owning an old POS and working repairs on the roadside. She accepts that failing in me, but the long series of POS breakdowns we've had over 30 years (nearly) of marriage has left an indelible pattern. If its old, its a POS. (BTW, how long before she turns that logic on me? Better not let her talk to Z, he'd delight in letting my wife know I'm a rickety ol' fart).

She was even reluctant with this 9 year-old car, until we rode around Baton Rouge in it. That car is so much nicer than my 88 300E (the one that went to my teenage daughter), and we both like it. The difference in power is noticeable. She said, "This car is like new. I can't believe she accepted your offer".

The downside is, there goes my summer vacation and new computer.

Congrats, it looks like a sweet one. Just out of curiosity, what was the offer that she accepted?

$8,000.

That is a very attractive car, Bot. Of course, I am dissapointed that you didn't get a diesel, but maybe next time.

I have a client with the same car in white (with the grey rockers though like you have) and they freaking love it. Theirs has almost 250K on it.

Congrats on a great purchase!!!!

PS: Diesel just went to 1.46/gal here in Jacktown.;)

I can hardly wait for Z to read this. He thought he'd finally adopted me into the Brotherhood of the Glowplug. Just one small step in the conversion to Comrade Botnst. Thwarted him again! Bwhah-haha!

I'm thinking that in 4-5 years I'll go diesel. Probably buy your old clunker when you get the latest solar-powered, flywheel-storaged, radar-defeating road warrior from DCD (Daimler-Chrysler-Daewoo).

Nice choice Bot. Can't wait to see some more pictures.

Beautiful car, Bot. While I prefer a Diesel, I understand the appeal of the later W124 E320, and that jewel-like in-line 6 engine. Great to see you found a near perfect example.

Congrats, Jim

Nice looking ride. You will like it. If you keep your foot out of it (hard to do) it will return around 25-26 mpg highway.

Congrats on the new Benz!

Nice car!

Welcome to the fraternity. We have basically the same car.

You are going to absolutely love the 3.2 liter inline 6. It is really a jewel, smooooth and powerful. It will surely be the best car you have ever owned.

I have come to love my car so much that they'll probably end up burying me in it. My wife calls my relationship with my car a disease.

Jim is right.

On my last trip from my house in Southern California to Las Vegas, it is 250 miles one way, and I achieved 25.9 mpg on the way there, with speeds averaging 80-85 mph.

Over the last 4 years though, my cumulative mileage is averaging about 22.5 mpg in mixed driving. Not too shabby....:)

At least you got a 124

...oh alright, I admit it, that's one purdy ride. I've always liked the last model year of a series, and I suspect the '95 is just about the best of the w124's.

And, when the gasser engine is done sucking the last of the devil's nectar, you can always put that sweet OM606 intercooled turbo from Narwhal's ride in it.

I'll think of you when I go and pick up my $100 220 D on Friday.

Congratulations on the new acquisition B! Hope you have a decade or more of enjoyment punctuated by only a very few well documented and easily solved pattern-type failures. Welcome to the world of a well-mannered OCD disorder commonly known as a multi-MB owner. So what is the first accessory gonna be?

Nice car--I have the technical info, should you need it, out of Nitzke's book. Would be happy to pass it along, at your request.

Generous offer, my worthy opponent. Thanks for the offer. God, stars, and stochaticity willing, I wont need it until my kid needs a college loan, my wife's car (Eagle Talon) needs injector work, and My Mother needs help with her appliances.

I'll keep it in mind. thanks.

12 disk changer routed through the working (surprisingly) stock radio/casette. I think I'll have to get the missus drunk on her birthday in Cancun to sneak in by her.
