If Ford had Purchased Ferrari...

In 1963 the Ford Motor Co. failed in its bid to purchase Ferrari. So everyone chime in.

Me first:

If Ford had purchased Ferrari, medmech's avatar would look like this:

If Ford had Purchased Ferrari...

There would not have been a GT40, hence, there would not be a GT today.

If Ford had purchased Ferrari......

The switchgear, turn signals, etc., would be the same as that found on a Taurus.

and that would be bad because....?
I am amused by all the neigh-sayers who predict bad things when Ford takes over ____. I had Jaguar-owning friends back when Ford bought that outfit, and they had nothing good to say at that time. Can anyone say that Ford has not done a great job with jaguar? Build quality is way up, waranty claims are down. Looks to me like Ford left Jaguar to do their own thing with a lot of assistance on how to build it better/ quicker. I used to know the build times, but have since forgotten, but jaguar's took 10 to 20 times longer to build than Fords--thats NOT an indication of quality but an indication of poor efficiency.

Ford bought Volvo and Volvo is doing wonders for Ford. Sales are up, so profits are up too. Volvo is introducing new cars and Ford uses their saftey research center.

The only odd thing about this deal is that the S80 uses a GM auto trans.

I don't really find that odd, didn't BMW even use a GM tranny at some point?

SHOCK ANNOUNCEMENT AT FERRARI

Modena, Italy:

The Ferrari F1 Team fired their entire Pit- Crew Yesterday. The announcement was followed by Ferrari's Decision to take advantage of the English Government's "Work For the Dole" Scheme and hire unemployed youths from Liverpool.

The decision to hire them was brought on by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths in Liverpool were able to remove a set of car wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Ferrari's existing crew can only do it in 8 seconds. This was thought to be an excellent yet bold move by Ferrari Management, as most races are won & lost in the pits, Ferrari would have an advantage over every team.

However Ferrari expectations were easily exceeded, as during the Crews first practice session; not only were "da scousers" able to change the tyres inunder 6 seconds but within 12 seconds they had resprayed, rebadged, and had sold the vehicle over to the McLaren Team for four dozen Stella's and a gram of Charlie.

Ferraris would cease to occupy dream car status and things like this would not happen:

Hunkered in the driver's seat of a brand-new Ferrari, surrounded by police officers, 20-year-old Troy Kaufman pointed his hunting rifle at his right temple and pulled the trigger.

The shot ended his young life but began a mystery.

Police ask if this was a last act of desperation for a troubled young man who didn't want to go to jail for stealing his dream car.

F
Kuan, I'm not too sure where your going with this thread but I'll assume you have honorable intentions.

If Ford did manage to own Ferrari I'm sure the idiots at Ford would kill the brand, the marque and Ferrari would likely go down like other great makers just to be revived by Audi.
