000 545 49 06 acts as neutral safety and reverse light. Its on the side of transmission. Probably needs cleaning the contacts get gummed up.

Worthy of mentioning - my SDL has an outboard electrical connection on the "+" cable secured by a nut. Make sure this is clean/tight. This had me going crazy a few years back.

Yes they can "stick" like that - but also can be tightened up just like a valve stem. One other item you may have overlooked is to replace the seal in the cap for the valve.
