I need to recharge my 1989 300E. I have done it many times on American cars and trucks but when I tied to put the recharge hose on the low side port it was too small to fit on. Any suggestions?

I have a 1989 mercedes 300E High stopped working on the blower motor. I assume it's the resistor regulator Anyone know where it is located?
