I've just remembered, the hot/cold air selector in the center vent does not work, or at least the LED's don't. I know that can shut down the center vents, but will it make the whole system go down?

Check your OVP relay behind the battery. If the fuse is blown, it's no good. You can put a new fuse in to check it, but that's not a good permanent fix/ Replace it with a new one if it's bad.
