I'm also tempted from time to time. I reason that the car is 9 years newer than mine with 50K fewer miles much more complex and nicer all around but a lot more to go wrong and it's hard to give up...

The 617 is strong but for durability go with factory recomendations.

so replace or clean (not with brake cleaner) rubbing...
