W116 300SD Turbo Drain Tube poor fitment

While I had my intake/exhaust/turbo assembly removed from my W116 80 300SD I thought I would replace the gasket, grommet and O-rings on the upper and lower drain tube.

As I put it back together...

I finally found the clip stuck to the back the vane housing...I reassembled and all is working fine...

I tried the same method for removing the pulley and both the pulley and shaft came out!

When I tried putting the shaft back in nothing keeps it locked in place. I tried looking for a snap ring...
