Ouch! Heater kerosene is $3.11 here, and in 55 gallon drums it's $2.50.

Nor does my '83. Maybe it has something to do with the low lubricity of diesel fuel to begin with, and Mercedes didn't want to keep repairing injection pumps from gasoline damage?

My manual says kerosene, not gasoline. If that happened to me, I'd definitely want to add a lubricant like motor oil or ATF, especially if I had nothing but petroleum diesel to cut the gasoline with.
