CPS Replacement

ALLDATA says I must "re-initiate" the Crankshaft Position Sensor with the MBZ Special Scan Tool after replacement .... Is that correct or can I just install the new CPS and the engine will (should)...

If it is the Crank Position Sensor, then why does the engine (starter) fail to crank the engine over. I turn the key to the start position and nothing happens. Battery is fully charged, all lights...

My Sister's 2000 SL500 will start and run for awhile (maybe 10-15 miles), then suddenly dies and will not crank until it sits for several hours .
I have over 40 years experience with just about...
