Rear Screen Demister and Wipers not working correctly
Hi
Ive got a problem with the rear screen demister not working on the hard top for my 1994 129 SL, also the wipers do not work on the intermitant and number 1 setting, only only setting 2. What can i do to check the cause of these faults. I really need these to be sorted as the weather really aint helping here in the UK!!! Cheers guys Prit

Check to see if the heating element is plugged in. The socket on my 91 SL is located on the driver's side door rear piller about 3 inches down. A cable with plug "hangs" out of the hard top. Connect them. My 91 SL has only one setting for "intermittent". It's either this intermittent setting or continueous slow or fast.

Have you checked your fuses? Sounds like there's the same fuse for both.
Fuses are located at the back of the engine bay under a black rectangular clipped panel. Some auxiliary fuses are located in the boot behind a small plastic cover as you look at the partition just before the soft top storage. Check these first  Lea

Ive checked the connecter, its plugged in correctly, check the fuses - fine too. I heard that relay that controls both these is a combination relay located just behind the main fuse box under the bonnet, could the relay be at fault? How can i check?

intermittant wiper relay
I'm having the wiper relay problem with a 92 500SL. I replaced the relay and the replacement did the same things: work on the fastest setting only and sometimes fail to return to the down position when turned off. I think it's the switch on the steering column. Will post back when I've swaped it.

The intermittant wipers & rear window defroster are controlled by the combination relay in the rear section of the main fuse box! Sounds like you need to start there.

Ok Guys fitted a new relay yesterday...no joy what so ever, can anybody tell me what else could be wrong, the rear screen demister stopped working after the wipers did, i notice theres a relay in the back of the car, how can i check if this is working properly. The light on the button comes on but the screen doesnt clear up.
