We were just in the middle of a similar issue hammering out the issue of the two different sized orings on the banjo bolt for the fuel filter...now that I'm hot on making an adapter for a different filter its still no less important...just got my donation in and I feel better for helping his family...he always was there to help me.

I am so saddened to hear this. My sincerest condolences to all of his family and work mates. It is so ironic that working my way to ressurecting my old 98 E300D, that thanks to Phil's help with parts and guidance from this forum's members that I haven't visited in a few days. Now that Mildred Mercedes is running without incidence I thought I would just stop by to by the forum to catch up.

To find this news comes as a great shock.

Phil will be sadly missed.

This, (below) was my situation too..... Roy Hunter called me late Friday afternoon leaving me a message about Phil passing. :(

I've been out on the road for several weeks travelling the country, and had not been on-forum to read the news of Phil's passing. Although I never took the opportunity for whatever reasons to shop or buy through Phil, I always knew that there was a resource to buy MB parts for my MB through Phil and P.P. I read many of 'Fastlane Phil's' posts over the years.

God Bless Phil and his family.

I spoke to Phil several times over the phone ordering parts in the past. He was always very helpful and polite. 61 is way too young to die. My sincere condolences to Phil's family.
May he rest in peace.

Phil was simply the best parts guy I've ever dealt with in 50 odd years of working on cars, period. No one else comes close.

RIP Phil.

My condolences to family and friends. It is great to hear what a wonderful guy he was in "real life".
Phil had become an institution here. I, and I'm sure many others, had come to rely on his personable manner, patience and understanding when helping us to solve our issues on time. He will be sorely missed.

Thank you so much everyone! You have no idea what the kind words about my father and all of your above and beyond generous donations mean to Jason and I. We are stunned and so deeply moved by the caring and wonderful people on this board. I have never seen anything like it and we feel it is a strong testament to how our dad touched people's lives. It is so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that most of you only knew him on the other end of the phone and didn't know him in person. Yet you have been so incredibly kind. No words can express what I am feeling right now. He wasn't perfect, as none of us are, but he came darn close in my heart! Thank you everyone!

These pictures brought tears to my eyes. :(

Jennifer, my heart goes out to you. I just lost my father a few months ago as well at too young of an age (66). This year has been a harsh reality for me as I have buried both my grandmothers and my father. I miss my father terribly but have comfort in the fact that he positively affected so many lives. Your father was similar to my father in that respect. I only spoke with Phil once but like others, it was a great experience. Of course, he is a legend on this forum. Any time any one on here needed anything, you can guarantee the next post would be someone saying "Give Phil a call, he'll help you out."

Let's help them out!

I encourage everyone to go to the donation page and contribute what you can; even if its just a few dollars! There are a lot of us, they're good people and, besides, it makes you feel good:) Ask me how I know!

The current tally is just over $1,300 which is a little disappointing. Let's kick it up a notch or two and take some pressure off the family.

My Christmas present to myself is my donation to Phil. I challenge you to do the same!

I really liked dealing with Phil...

Over the last eleven years Phil and I built up a great rapport. He became my preferred source. Dealing with him was always a personal experience. I will truly miss him.

Sometimes, in this world, you run across good people - people who deserve everything you can do for them.

Phil was one of these people.

I wish peace for his family and loved ones. Someone in CA needs to organize a "Mercedes convoy" for the ceremonies on the 7th.

What a great guy he was, he always talked to me like he really knew me, he always called me by my name. What a great guy, he will be missed. God Bless.

Remeber that photo from years ago - even though I never met him in person he looked familair. It wasn't his face that was familiar but the bulletin board behind him. Phil was a Moose:D
