Just signing in today, it been a awhile. I'm sad about the news of Phil's passing. He was always there with an answer to my car or parts questions. You could tell over the phone Phil had a passion his work. To Phil's family, I'm sorry for your loss.

I too just logged in and read this news.

What a great guy. I remember the one time I spoke on the phone with him and he was the warmest, most genuine person you'd ever come to know.

To Phil's family: may his memory be an eternal blessing for all of you. His wisdom, insight and knowledge will live on here in our archives (and our minds) as a testament to his amazing character.

Unhappy

I haven't been on here in a very long time...but I just received an E-mail announcing his passing. Phil was a great guy; I had talked to him a number of times when I still had my M-B's, and I was genuinely saddened to hear of his passing. He really helped me out over the years...

May he rest in peace.

Miss Phil already! Always polite and helpful, never had to worry about him getting back to me on the most minor part order. A fine gentleman, rest in peace Phil!

Farewell to a great guy

Hi,

I've been staring at the photo of Phil in the email sent out a week ago. Didn't think to log in. I'm still in a state of shock.

My best memory of dealing with Phil was a P.O. Box/billing issue. After we resolved it he said you should get the parts Thursday. I said, "so soon? Cool I'll be able to work on it this weekend.". Somehow he sensed in my voice how excited I was about working on my Mercedes over the weekend and he said something like relax, you'll have a fun weekend, and laughed. As I hung up I felt embarrassed, like somebody now knew my addiction...like most here, I don't have to work on these cars, I love to. He knew it too.

I will miss you Phil. Rest in peace.

Phil will be missed by all - what a great guy to work with over the phone. I'm sure he was even better face-to-face.

Good Speed Phil Reinhardt.

This is so sad. Phil's friends and family are in our prayers. My experiences with him over the phone left me with the impression that we was a kind person, eager to help and do the right.

Condolences to the family.

Life is cuel

Phil----Gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????

I just logged in after my own health crisis became somewhat resolved , to find a very large empty space in my heart from the news.

Phil and I had become commiscerating brothers over several years. Similar values, experiences, family situations. My son now lives in Boise and works in Nampa, ID where he was. Jennifer lives (lived) near me in Sioux Falls. We were just about to engage in carparts sharing. Feels like a big fat comfortable rug has been pulled out from under my feet.

Oh, how I'll miss the brotherhood and nodding understanding of a lot of things.

I will move on. His family, however, by noting the feelings expressed in this string of posts, will have a much larger wound to heal. But, great personalities leave behind a large body of love and memory as a healing balm. A quick thought of how he may have viewed things and how he may have wished we remember him will unfailingly bring a soothing smile and one will conclude that all is well with God and Phil. And so may it be with us.

Jennifer, if you are still in Sioux Falls and wish, drop me a line. A grandpa can buy a cup of coffee for one of Phil's daughters.

Wow, such a sad surprise to hear about Phil! My prayers are with you, Jennifer, and with all Phil's family and Roy.

I can't add much but I'll say that Phil was the best part of working on my cars. A complete pleasure to talk with.

You should have left the donations page up longer, some of us don't visit here much anymore. Make it a scholarship page. I know I'd be obliged to contribute some small fraction of the $ Phil saved me over the years!

I will miss Phil. I have a few special tools in my box that I purchased through him and will remember his helpfulness next time I need to remove a 603 head

My condolences to family and friends. I spoke to him once when I used FastLane about 10 years ago and after that bought supplies for my 190E every once in a while. God bless Phil.
