Wow! It Finally Happened to Me

After reading about all the window regulator problems on the W120 (and smirking with pride every time my rear windows went up without a problem) it finally happened to me. Today I heard a crunch as I tried to raise my rear window. I removed the door panel without problem, but found only pieces of a window clip? in the door well. I presume i only need to replace the clip, but I need to know how the mechanism works before I can repair. Without some diagram of the workings of the motor, regulator, etc I don't feel I can make the repair. I've done search after search on window regulators and got a lot of good info, but I need that diagram to get things straight in my mind. Anyone know of a diagram of how the thing works. Will buy the CD if necessary, but would prefer not to (with all the reported problems of finding what you need on the CD. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Guy

I do not have access to the W210 manuals/cd either. If it were me I would remove another door panel to see how it is assembled. It will be better than a sketch in a manual.

Your regulator is BROKEN, get a new one and you can look at that and it'll make sense. Be sure to get the rivets which hold the regulator to the door panel, and you'll need to rent or borrow a very large rivet gun to install the rivets, a pop rivet gun (hand held) won't do it.

I've replace mine. I use drill to remove revert and hand held revert gun to install reverts. The trick to remove reverts is to use nail to push out the centre riverts.
Simple job.

Thanks guys for your response. I saw an old post that referred to a broken regulator clip and it fit my situation ie broken piece in door well, motor OK, cable OK, so I have ordered the clip. Was tempted to replace the whole regulator, but will try this first. Will post my results. I would hate to try to maintain a MB without the great support this group provides. Thanks
