'95 S320 for Sale in Washington Post
Saw '95 S320 with 92K for sale in Post this morning ... $15.9K ...
Have heard about issues with evaporator ... would appreciate comments about this year ... I have driven 98 and 99 versions with 5L and 3.2L ... I like the slightly lighter feel in the straight six ... well, as light as a 5K pound car can feel, I guess. Thanks! |
Very expensive
My old boss's wife had a S320. His evaporator died out of warranty, and I believe that it cost him around $4k to fix it. 23 hours of labor, $1000+ in parts.
If it's the long wheelbase version, it might (not sure) have hydraulic load-leveling shocks in the rear. These are failure items, and cost quite a bit. I've read that the soft-close door feature can cost a bit when it breaks as well. The 6 cylinder in that car will need a head gasket sooner or later as well. All in all, W140s are very nice cars, but expensive to own out of warranty. I chose my W124 to try and stay away from the really big bills (but my evaporator still went to the tune of $2000). best of Luck, Troy 1995 E420 83k |
You may be interested to check out my offering in the for sale section. It is a '95 and the evaporator was repaired by MB several years ago and is working fine. Great cars.

If you like it, buy it!
Most of the items mention should be fixed at 90k. If it break, fix it again. No hydraulic on 6 cylinders car, they come standard on S500. Jack |
