Removing head from 300TE (103 engine): one quick question

Most how-to procedures state that it is best to leave the intake and exhaust manifolds on the head when you pull it, and I was thinking of removing both of them at the head instead, and leaving them otherwise intact, since I am getting the head serviced and must remove them anyway.

It seems to me it would be easier this way, since you dont have to open up the fuel system or disconnect all the intake components. I was wondering what problems I may have by removing the intake at the head, and if I am setting myself up for a bunch of problems.

THanks!!

Well...

when I did MY engine, I disconnected the intake manifold and moved it out of the way, about 1/2 inch, just enough to lift the head. I did remove the exhaust manifold before I removed the head.
People have done it both ways. It is what is more convenient for you and how developed your mechanical skills are.
Good luck!

For me it is easier to do it just like J. Hidalgo said. Take the exhaust completely off and then just disconnect the intake and leave it in place. It's not only easier as far as disconnecting and reconnecting, but it also makes the head as light as a feather and very easy to lift off and simply set it back in place.

Good luck,
