Coolant Level Sensor
Did somebody try to replace a coolant level sensor with a cheaper sensor from any other car?
I have changed the oxygene sensor on my 260E with a sensor from Ford. They are the same BOSH sensors, only plugs are different - then just cut the plug! |
I agree...for such an inexpensive part, why bother swapping out for a non-OEM (or non-manufacturer for that matter)?
I replaced mine last year, and found that the sensor and seals are a pretty snug fit. Anything other than MB will plague you unnecessarily with false readings and leaks. |
The only way to use a different sensor would be to use a different reservoir.
Lot of trouble just to remove the star. |
I agree that OEM parts are the best and I will probably buy one here for $24.26 but if you can buy the similar size coolant level sensor, which just a magnetic switch - a magnet that opens/closes contact for $10 or less ?? why not? I just do not know if it possible.
tkamiya, where did you see the sensor for less than 20 dollars? Please, post the link. |
