1996 C280 - turn signals not working!

The turn signals and hazard lights have stopped working in my 90k mile 1996 C280. I have checked all the fuses so my next guess is either the signal stalk or the relay. Is this a common problem? Any suggestions would be great :)

Thanks

I should add that the wipers DO work. It is my understanding that the relay for the turn signals is a "multi function" unit that does the signals, hazards, rear defrost and wipers.....so if the wipers work and the signals don't does this mean the relay is still functioning correctly?

Thanks again.

I'd say that working wipers doesn't prove one thing one way or another in determining if the relay is OK or not. The best step would be to test the inputs from the switches to the relay.

Thanks, I guess I will try a relay. Don't shoot me for asking but where is this relay located?

Thanks

Why would I shoot ya for that? I might want to for just wanting to replace it without testing (unless that is your intention) but anyways it's in the "way back" of the fusebox, there is an additional cover which needs to be removed on a 202 I believe to get to the relays, and usually this is the longest relay back there. Maybe you can find out the part number and the part numbers are right on top so you know you're at the right one.
