checking if kickdown switch is still good, 87 300e
I am trying to diagnose a transmission problem, and I just wanted to rule out the kickdown switch as a culprit. I tested it with an ohmmeter, and the pins labeled 1 and 3 gave a reading of 0 without the switch depressed, and a reading of 1 with it depressed. The pins labeled 2 and 4 behaved in the opposite manner, with the resistance reading 0 when the switch was depressed. This seems normal to me, but I wanted to be certain. I was a bit weary of taking it apart because of the very tense spring inside.
Thanks in advance for all replies. p.s. Can you tell that I finally bought a volt/ohmmeter for myself? |
