When I turn the key to open the driver side door, the key turns but the lock doesn't move. Seems like the key is not connected to the lock mechanism. Any tips on how to get to it? By the way, the key works just fine on the passenger side door. Thanx.

My 89 is doing the same thing. It came on over time with a gradual deterioration. I'm sure it's just a mechanical linkage component loosening up as all of the vacuum actuators work fine (I generally unlock from the trunk). I'm taking mine in for a 60K soon and am going to ask them (independent shop) what they'll charge to fix. Depending, I might wait till spring (it's been snowing here) and fix myself, or if not too unreasonable, have them do it. I'll let you know what estimate is. Probably about a week or so.

There is a rod that connects the tumbler to the lock. On occassion, I have pulled them out and found the little roll pin 1/2 way out. Most of the time the holder is broken and you have to replace the tumbler.

My driver's door lock was jamming. I'm not too sure if this is the same problem, but I sprayed some WD40 into the lock, and it cured the problem totally.

Sorry if i'm talking about something totally unrelated.

Oliver
